Situated in the Southwest region of the Pacific Ocean, New Zealand is an Island country that the Maoris call the ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’. The phrase was coined by William Pember Reeves who penned an Influential History of New Zealand which the Maoris called Aoteroa. It is known as the Land of the Long White Cloud due to the unique cloud formations that occur in the region. Early navigators searched for these clouds to reach the country.
New Zealand welcomes the fearless traveller in you. One who loves nature will have a great time here. The geographical layout of the land will let you see gorgeous snow-capped peaks, dense green forests and white sandy beaches on the same day. The citizens are warm and probably the most friendly people on Earth.
History in New Zealand features a great blend of Maori and European cultures. The Maoris journeyed from Hawaiki on their canoes and reached the untouched lands about 1000 years ago. A Dutch explorer by the name of Abel Tasman became the first European who discovered New Zealand. However, it was the British Empire who first invaded and colonised the lands.
