This time plan your journey to Kerala to get some real inspiration. A museum dedicated to the former president and ace scientist APJ Abdul Kalam has opened in Thiruvananthapuram.
Considered as the first-of-its-kind facility in south India, the Dr Kalam Smriti International Science & Space Museum will “showcase his journey from Rameswaram to the Parliament,” says Shaiju David Alfi, CEO, Dr Kalam Smriti International, the organization behind the real foundation of this museum.
The museum will be housing a replica of GSLV Mk-III (very first sample model), rare pictures of the Parliament, miniature models of Mark II and Mark III , some of his inspiring quotes, President’s personal memorabilia (books, pens, the coat he wore at a function in Shillong before his death), given by his private secretary and the family members along with a 40 minutes biopic of his life that will be also be screened.
The museum is under the ministry of youth affairs and was funded by the committee members of Dr Kalam Smriti International, and well-wishers.
"By dedicating the museum to the nation, we hope that future generations of our youth would be inspired to achieve greatness by following the life of our late President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam," Shaiju David Alfi, CEO, Dr Kalam Smriti Internatioanl said.
The museum could be explored between 10 am and 4 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
