This is the time when a lot of regional festivals takes place, some big and some lesser known but all of them beautifully represent the dazzling celebration. Dev Deepavali in Varanasi

Varanasi is one of the popular cities in India and one of the oldest cities in the world. This city is famous for many reasons and one of those reasons includes the celebration of the festival Dev Deepavali which is celebrated on Kartik Poornima every year. The view at this festival is a true visual treat as all the 84 ghats of Varanasi are decorated with earthen lamps. It is also said that on this day Gods descend to the Ganges River banks to take the holy dip in the river. Ganga Aarti on the ghats is one of the major events in Varanasi.

Pushkar Camel Fair, Rajasthan

It is basically cattle fair and it attracts a lot of people across the globe. During this Camel Fair 50,000 odd camels and 2000,000 people come together and enjoys in the colorful event. This camel fair is a true fun event as many other competitions also held after the trading which includes dance competition, camel races and competitions among men for their moustaches.

Guru Nanak Jayanti, Amritsar

Guru Nanak Jyanti is one of the major festivals of Sikhs and is celebrated in a grand manner at Golden Temple in Amritsar. The preparations & chanting of Guru Granth Sahib on the streets of Amritsar start few days before the main event. Further, the langar (community feast) on Guru Nanak Jayanti is the biggest one organized in the temple.
