If yes, then read this prior to packing your bags. Dubai International Airport has introduced some new strict baggage rules for the passengers that everyone should know.
Passengers travelling through Dubai International Airport may not only have to change the way of their packing but also have to invest in some new bags if these don’t meet with newly introduced strict baggage rules of the airport.
From 8th March, 2017, the airport will not allow any luggage that is in oversize, round or lumpy bags. Keeping bags on the airport conveyor that are bound together will also be not allowed.
The airport of Dubai city is always known for offering some of the most sophisticated baggage systems of the world. Comprising of a surface area of 75 football fields, Dubai Airport’s baggage handling system is one among the largest in the world. It features 15,000 trays and is powered by 21,000 motors. Any bag takes around 29 minutes in passing through the baggage system at this airport. Despite this, irregular shaped bags disrupt even the most technologically advanced systems and contribute as the biggest source of baggage jams resulting into delay baggage delivery to the aircraft. So, all the airlines flying to Dubai Airport have been notified with these new rules. Any passenger whose bags don’t comply with the new rules will be stopped at the counter and given an option to get their package repacked in the boxes on paying certain fees.

3. Irregular shaped bags are not allowed.
