Indira Gandhi International Airport of Delhi manages a large number of people moving in and out everyday and hence to ease that Noida is getting Delhi NCR’s second airport finally. A Greenfield airport is being set up in the Jewar district of Greater Noida and hopefully it will be functional in next 5-6 years.
It is believed that the upcoming international airport in Great Noida will reduce the load of passengers on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport which is currently country’s main aviation hub and is considered as one of the busiest airports.
On Friday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation gave its nod to build a new airport in Jewar region of Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. To reduce the load on IGI- it is the only airport in the nearby cities like Noida, Haryana and Agra.
According to the reports, the new airport in Greater Noida will be 72 kilometers away from the Indira Gandhi International Airport. However, the 3000 hectare airport will have one runway in its initial phase, adding three more in the subsequent phases. This airport will cater to 30-50 million passengers per year as per Ashok Gajapathi Raju who is Civil Aviatio Minister.
