Remember Jatayu, the mythical creature that bravely fought with Ravana to rescue Sita? Located in the Kollam district of Kerala, there believed to be a place where Jatayu fell from the sky after a valiant fight with Ravana. The place now is officially open to visitors with the name Jatayu Nature Park. The project of this National Park has been started with the aim of encouraging mythology and adventure tourism.
Spread across an area of 65 acres, the park offers memorable experience to its visitors bringing together the perfect amalgamation of art, history, epics, adventure and technology. The park is spread over 65 acres of land and houses a giant structure of Jatayu. The structure is 200 feet long, 150 feet broad and 70 feet in height.
There is a belief that the mythical bird fell there after being struck down by the Ravana during his fight to rescue Sita. The sculpture rests on the top of the hill.
The place has a 6-D theater and a museum that displays the glimpses from epic tale of Ramayana. From inside the sculpture, you can also enjoy the bird’s eye view experience from 1,000 feet above the sea level.
“It took us seven years to build the sculpture. It is basically a concrete structure that has been given a stone finish. Building it has been a major struggle as the terrain was hard and we had to carry all the materials to the top"- Famous sculptor and filmmaker Rajiv Anchal said (Chairman and the Managing Director of Guruchandrika Builders and Property Private Limited).
The park will have a variety of activities including archery, laser tag, rifle shooting, rock climbing, bouldering and paint ball. It will also have an ayurvedic cave resorts.
The park will implement the first of its kind cable car services to reach the desired location.
