What is PNR Status in Railways?

PNR refers to a ‘Passenger Name Record’ that’s been recorded in the relational database of the centralised reservation system of Indian Railways. It’s shown against the journey details of passengers or a group of various passengers. By using this, you can learn the status of your seat berth on your train ticket. When you book train tickets, you get a passenger name record number through which you can check whether you have a confirmed seat or if you are waitlisted. That’s not all! Once you are done with your SMS, you will receive the updated details in your inbox.
  • Look at Reservation Charts: Travellers can check their status by referring to the finalised reservation chart available at the railway station. However, it’s mandatory to be a few hours before the train’s departure.
