Nainital is older than Jesus Christ: Strange, no? If you dig deep into the history of Nainital one will realize that the city of lakes is older than Jesus Christ and it used to be known as Khadesh. Khadesh was ruled by Khasis and the present Naini lake was also known by a different name: Tririshi Sarovar. If one states the mythological reason then it is said that it was believed that the three sages arrived at this place but to their dismay found no water so they performed meditations and through this, they made a big crater in the lake and filled it with water from the holy Mansarovar lake in Tibet.
Naini Devi Presides over Nainital
It is believed that the left eye of Goddess Sati fell into this place. It is said that Naini Devi was worshipped in Nainital and the Naini lake is shaped in the shape of an eye. And also, it gets its name from the same.
The Naina Devi is referred to as the most sacred site in the nation. There is a festival too that is celebrated in the honor of the Goddess each year. Many people come here and pay respects to the almighty.
Home to the oldest Golf Course
The golf course in Nainital dates back to 1926, the 18-hole golf course seems to be the oldest golf course in the country and the same was available for public use in the year 1994.

Sounds unusual right? But it is true since it is situated in the northern end, it receives rainfall every noon.
