Catacombs are underground burial grounds which were used by Jewish, Christian Romans and Pagan in past. There are around 60 Catacombs in Rome but currently you can visit only five out of them namely Catacombs of San Sebastiano, Catacombs of San Callisto, Catacombs of Domitilla, Catacombs of Saint’s Agnese and Catacombs of Priscilla. You can get to see the names encryptedon some burials of those who once occupied them. Catacombs are closed on Sunday mornings and Monday afternoons, so plan accordingly to visit these places.
