Old Delhi half day guided tour

5/5 Deepak was a wonderful guide, he provided a great experience, sharing his knowledge of India and old Delhi. We traveled on the metro, by rickshaw and on foot exploring the narrow lane ways of old Delhi. The spice market was a highlight as was the visit to Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib where we were able to see the kitchen that feeds thousands of people daily, in full action. Delicious lunch and a stop for chai along the way. Deepak was extremely helpful, ensuring we had tickets for the trip back to our hotel on the metro. Great way to see Old Delhi would highly recommend.

Taj Mahal

Had an eye opening experience visiting the Taj Mahal and 2 markets. Our tour guide, Mona, was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of historical context of India, Delhi, Agra and the Taj Mahal. He ensured we were safe, comfortable and well hydrated. He offered us a tour of the Fort but we declined, however he took us 2 markets, 1 was a carpet making place everything is hand woven and the other was a masonry where everything is made of natural sound. Both are considered a dying art! I highly recommend Mona and this tour services!

Delhi Tour with Mona

The experience was amazing. Mona is very knowledgeable and you can see he loves his country and loves to talk about India’s history. The food sports were also great, we had a lot of fun! Also, Mona being fluent in Spanish was very helpful for us Spanish-speaking folk, he was able to explain everything with great detail.

Mona was INCREDIBLE!! We had only 24 hours in Delhi before we flew to Bhutan and Mona allowed us to see, experience, and taste as much as possible in our half day tour. He went above and beyond any expectations, including picking us up from the airport, which removed a lot of stress from our shoulders since this was our first time in India. He was friendly, extremely knowledge, and considerate of what we wanted to do. BOOK HIM!! I definitely will when we return in the future! I only wish we had more time!

Great historical tour to see sights

Amazing tour of old Delhi with Mona

I did the guided tour with my sister. We were picked up from our hotel on time and taken to the Friday Mosque. Mona (our tour guide) was very insightful and answered all of our questions. He was also kind enough to take our pictures. He took us around the mosque explaining both the history and architecture of it. Afterwards we did an amazing tour of Old Delhi by foot. It was quite overwhelming as it is crowded but we felt very safe with Mona who was attentive to our movements. He took us to some great spots and we even had some food. We also went to the spice market which was amazing. Mona was quite flexible with what we wanted to see as my sister and I had already been to some of the sites. Overall I highly recommend this tour!

Lovely tour guide with a history degree

Mona was a wonderful guide. He gave us a comprehensive overview of how to get around both Old and New Delhi. He showered us with his extensive knowledge of Indian and Delhi history, which he expertly intertwined with the guided tour. He showed us hidden gems of Old Delhi that made the trip feel deeply authentic. My favourite stop was a beautiful Jain temple Mona brought us to. I highly recommend Mona as your tour guide to feel safe and taken care of while you explore Old Delhi’s fascinating streets.

A very precious and beautiful experience! A touring guide with a broad (historical) knowledge about the city and tells you anything you want to know, just ask! Everything is included: drinks, food and above all.. a wonderful experience by seeing the special spots of Delhi which you would not have seen with Mona (the guide). Highly recommended!

The best tour I had in India!

It was an amazing experience! One of the best I ever had. Old Delhi is fantastic when you see it along with a knowledgeable local like Mona. I appreciated the authenticity and craziness of the city thanks to him. He was very passionate about the history of India and he got to transmit me his emotions. He even adapted the tour to me and we spoke only in Spanish. I’m grateful I did this experience and met Mona. I feel like I have a new friend!

Inside look at Old Delhi

I would definitely recommend Mona for showing you around Old Delhi. He is very knowledgeable, courteous and knows his way around the maze of Old Delhi. Not only did we feel very safe (two female travelers), but he also showed us places that we would not have visited on our own. We rode a rikshaw, saw several markets and Jama Masjid, tried street food and watched the sunset from a rooftop. Mona met us at a metro station near our hotel and we took the metro to Old Delhi together (and back). Thank you Mona!

Great tour of Old Delhi!

Excellent tour of Old Delhi! Deepak was a really great guide, very knowledgeable, punctual for our pickup at the hotel, and extremely nice. He was very thoughtful, looked after us well (as was our driver for the day.) It is important to know that there were a couple of the sites visited (entry to the mosque and sikh temple) in which footwear +\- socks need to be removed. We booked this tour at the last minute, and overall we were extremely pleased with this tour and it was a great experience to visit the sites of Old Delhi with an excellent guide! Thank you!!

Fascinating Old Delhi

The half day visit of Old Delhi was a highlight during our short stay in India. Mona is an excellent guide and took us to a variety of interesting places and shared with us all his knowledge of Indian history and culture. I would happily reccomend him to future visitors.

With my American friends, an Indian learned a lot too!

Mona/Madhavendra and I were connected through another friend. I am from India and know old Delhi well, but had two American friends visiting and wanted an expert who could tell us a lot more. Mona surpassed my expectations- it was such a pleasant, informative and fun-loving jaunt through our ancient history. We had yummy street food that was safe, saw amazing markets and then a grand mosque- Jama Masjid and Humayun's Tomb! I learned much more than I ever knew from books and he kept my friends safe and enthralled. Mona also has a great way of personalizing the tour for his audience. In short, our trip was simply outstanding.

Real India far from tourists

Manu is passionate, dedicated, careing guide who knows a lot about the history and able to lite up the interest in everybody easily. We visited incredible places where alone I would have not gone, but he made this experience fun and safe. All my respects to the rickshaw drivers! If you are looking for unique angle, something different than the sugarcoated reality, I highly recommend you to take this tour!

I was first-time visitor to India when I took this adventurous tour of Old Delhi. Step back into time on streets and among buildings which have been in active use for centuries. My tour guide "Mona" is formally trained in Indian history, multi-lingual, and an area resident for many years. His numerous tours through the area have brought him to ever-increasing knowledge about the layers of history hidden behind the sights and sounds of this populated city. Our tour took us through the working merchant distrct of Old Delhi, where small store fronts hide the major business-to-business being conducted. Many shops sell to consumers, but a large portion of daily traffic are merchants dealing in volume trading. Wares include building supplies, fabrics, hardware and jewelry. The streets are old and narrow and require navigating among crowded portions and moving scooters and motor bikes: but stay with your guide and he helps you navigate this adventurous walking portion. Our historical look includes a visit to Jama Masjid, still an active mosque. Many Muslims come for worship, locals come to socialize, and visitors come to admire the architecture and culture. The large open area could hold 25,000 people. Also on the tour are notable buildings combining Indian and foreign styles. Mona points out the architectural features of different buildings which show the artistry expressed in decoration and construction. Today, the patterns used are a source of historical and native pride, creative history on current display. The final portion includes a rickshaw ride to the spice market. Being in the open vehicle gives an up-close look at Delhi traffic. Granted, Delhi pollution can be irritating -- but I had my particulate mask to ease the hit. The spice market is famous, and one may find quality ghee too. Again, much of the business is commercial, but your guide will show you where consumers may find quality and variety. For the several hours it was, this interactive adventure stimulates body and mind and senses in a place dominated by local merchants and residents. The buildings are historical, but the activity is real and turbulent and current. No tour book or video can capture the full experience of simply going and exploring Old Delhi with a knowledgeable guide.

The old Delhi is a special place with interesting history. Information provided by tour guide Mona is really professional. The center of city is over crowded with all kinds of people and transports. However, Mona has taken full care & attention to us, and we have been able to go through different small lanes & streets without problem. Thanks to Mona !

Beauty of old Delhi

Mona enthusiastically and interestingly made the most of our day giving us lots of facts and history. He gave us a good insight into the markets, different religious culture and laws. He negotiated on our behalf and made us feel safe and comfortable at all times. Fascinating tour into the intriguing sights and smells of the Old Delhi marketplace. The guide was adept at all forms of transportation to and from all sights. We were in good hands! The spices, jewelry, wedding cards, and the rest were fascinating. We were so glad Mona made this possible for us to see into the heart of this ancient trading spot. We were most grateful. Definitely worth the time for this tour!

We had an amazing adventure!

Our guide, Mona, was fantastic, providing us with historical and cultural context as we walked through the bustling streets and market places of Old Delhi. It was a wonderful way to immerse ourselves in a place where two women traveling on their own may have felt overwhelmed. The spice market, Jama Masjid, and the auto-rickshaw ride were highlights of the tour, and as an aside, the Delhi metro is world class. I did the half day tour of old Delhi. I was due to land at Delhi airport early morning and start the tour from the hotel at 10 am. My flight was delayed but Mona was very flexible to wait until I was ready. The tour uses public transport (Metro, Rickshaw and walking) I found it a much better experience than sitting in the bad traffic in an air-conditioned car. The Metro is fast, clean and cooled. Mona is a well educated guide, with excellent English. He really took care to communicate the highlights without doing the long boring speeches as well as to keep me safe in the crowds and traffic of old Delhi. My tour covered two temples and 3 markets, Mona would accomodate your needs if you have special requests. I was amazed by the spice market, though it was challenging to breathe as the air was so dense with spice. For me, the paper and jewelry markets were a bit repetitive. The tour would normally finish by returning to the hotel but I preferred to be dropped at the Red Fort instead and I toured the fort myself and had a 200 INR Uber back to my hotel. I really appreciated that the tour was all inclusive, lunch and cold water bottles were included as was the entry to the temple and even the pass to be allowed to take photos. The only additional item was $2 tip for the rickshaw driver. In the morning we sampled a local fruit dish - I was a bit concerned as I normally don't eat anything not freshly cooked when in India but Mono convinced me to try and it was a spicy delight and no after effects. My tour lasted 3 1/2 hours, but would have been closer to 4 if I'd ended it back at the hotel. I would highly recommend Mona for this or other tour needs.

An amazing day in Old Delhi

I was in India for business and wanted to see Old Delhi. As a solo female traveler, I was a bit apprehensive of how my experience would be with this tour, since I would be by myself with the tour guide. Mona was absolutely amazing! He was friendly and casual, smart and informative and made the tour feel like we were two friends going out to explore Old Delhi. He took me anywhere I asked for, he was funny, arranged for a tuk-tuk ride, took me places to buy gifts, to buy spices, etc. He also took me for a nice meal in a place he trusted. The tour was supposed to be a few hours, but he stayed extra with me to finish with all my stuff and make my experience worthwhile. When I didn't find any operational ATM to get some Indian money, he even traded some of his ruppies for my euros, so I have some cash for the rest of the day! Mona made me feel safe and made the tour lots of fun! The following day, I suggested him to 3 more lady friends that arrived one day later and they all enjoyed the tour as well. I highly recommend him!

A wonderful experience. I highly recommend everyone to sign up. You will definitely have a different experience when visiting Delhi from a different angle. Jatin will very patiently introduce the places to visit, which are worth experiencing and are places that ordinary tourists will never visit.

Tourist visit

Great tour, allows you to see a lot of things in Old Delhi. A little fast at times, doesn't allow you to look at the market stalls. Quite touristy.

Simplement excellent

Normalement, j'organise mes voyages moi-même. S'agissant de l'Inde j'ai pensé qu'un accompagnement se justifiait. J'ai bien fait. Mona est un guide remarquable. La visite qu'il nous a organisée était un véritable événement. J'ai adoré. Le temps consacré, la disponibilité l'organisation et la ponctualité ont été irréprochables.
