Lucerne CH Experience: Cheese, Chocolate, Chapel Bridge & Château

Great experience!

Lus definitely made the experience! He was very knowledgeable, explained Swiss history and culture, and didn't hurry our group along! I would definitely recommend him as a tour guide!

Beautiful Lucerne

Martina was just perfect! She was patient, flexible and informative! Bonus, we got to see a local band strike up in a square and a wedding exit the church. It was a beautiful day and beautiful tour.

Maybe not with the price.

The tour was advertised as Cheese, Chocolate, Chapel Bridge and Chateau, but when we arrived at the meeting spot we were told that the lift to the Chateau was under repair and we would not be going there. Our tour guide, Luis, was very good and said we would make the best of our time together, but really, we should have been notified before the tour of the change and given a chance to cancel. This was a very expensive tour for a stop at a Laderach Chocolate store (a place we had stopped at on our own previously), and have a glass of wine at each of two wine bars with cheese served. We saw the Chapel Bridge, but we didn’t even walk on it. We expected more.

Fantastic Experience

Luis was an excellent guide. He was knowledgeable, personable and shared a lot of information about the foods and wines and chocolate of Lucerne. Would highly recommend this tour!

Luis, our guide , so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Lucerne. The tour was relaxed and enjoyable ! The chocolates were amazing ! The views and the castle were like being in a fairytale . Visited Opus for wine and cheese . Great explanation and fabulous pairing . This is our last day in Lucerne - so happy we were able to have this wonderful experience❤️thank you Luis !

Waste of money

First let me say that Nina our tour guide was precious and knowledgeable. She was courteous and kind. No where in the description of the tour did it say we would be walking the entire time. The four of us paid over $900 for this and now way was it even worth half. The wine tasting and cheese portion was beyond disappointing. We got a taste of either white or red wine. No discussion other than they can’t produce enough to export. The portion we were each given was enough for a couple of sips. Then our guide said goodbye and left us sitting there. Yep. The end. Again in her defense she couldn’t get in contact with the owner regarding the add on cruise portion we paid for so she ran over to the dock to figure that out for us. She was kind enough to send me the info on WhatsApp. Not sure what someone would have done had we not had the app. We would not recommend this tour to anyone.

Fabulous experience

This walking tour was great. Our tour guide took us to several locations and explained the history behind it. We saw covered bridge, Sampled chocolates, cheese and wine tasting, saw castle hotel which has spectacular views of Lucerne. Definitely recommend this tour

A great experience!

It was a lovely experience and I highly recommend it. It was exactly as advertised. Our guide was knowledgeable and very helpful with suggestions of other things to do in the city.

A perfect day in Lucerne

Enjoyed this tour very much. It was the perfect ending to a great day. A little bit of chocolate, some wine and cheese and a little history. Our guide was great!

Expensive and not worth the price

Guide was lovely and very knowledgeable which was great, but it was a very expensive tour for what you got. The chocolate experience was a very short tasting and they simply gave you a bag of chocolates to take away. Why not let you stay around and look and purchase some and also hear abit more about their chocolate. The castle part you couldn’t go into the hotel at the top which was disappointing. The cheese and wine was lovely. All in all ok but overpriced.

Great overview of Lucerne

Laslo was a great guide, knew the city and was good with kids. Chocolate and cheese was an added bonus!

Wonderful afternoon with Isabella as our guide. The chocolate tasting at the beginning was a perfect start, and the walking tour that followed was fun and informative. Taking the funicular up to an amazing view of Lucerne was very fun, and the wine and cheese tasting that ended the tour was generous and delicious. Thanks, Isabella!

Nice tour but expensive value

We did the Lucerne chocolate, cheese, and wine tour. Our tour guide was very nice and personable. We went to one chocolatier in the train station where we tried various chocolates and learned about the history of the company and some chocolate information. We then went to a hotel up in the hills and saw a nice view of Lucerne. We then walked to a nice small cheese and wine venue where we tasted cheese and drank wine and chatted with our guide. The tour lasted 2 hours. The tour was nice, but for the price paid, expected more chocolate tastings and more time overall. The value of thus tour was not as good as expected. Overall nice tour but too expensive for what we did.

Not enough variety of cheeses

Ours guides were friendly, warm and knowledgeable. The view from the castle hotel was stunning. The wine are very good and chocolates were also good.

What's not to love?!

This was a lovely way to spend the afternoon! I booked this tour when another tour was canceled at the last minute because of weather (in the mountains). Luis communicated when and where to meet. The tour ended up being with just another couple so it was easy to make our way through town to the various stops and to hear all the information provided about the city and products being sampled.

Super Enjoyable

Luis made the tour he was so knowledgeable and moved at our pace. The wine and cheese was a great addition and who doesn’t love Chocolate! Great views and perfect pace

A wonderful afternoon in beautiful Lucerne!

My husband and I spent a wonderful afternoon on this tour in Lucerne with one other couple and our awesome tour guide, Luis! He was so personable and knowledgeable of the area and the culture and helped to make the tour a fantastic way to spend the afternoon! Yes, the Chocolate tasting is at a store in the train station, but it was the best chocolate tasting experience we had in all of Lucerne and they allowed us to try everything that we wanted to taste! Everything was delicious and well worth it! We ended the day in a beautiful castle for wine tasting and cheese, which was fantastic! We so enjoyed ourselves and our new friends that we ended up staying longer and enjoying the wine! Luis also gave us great recommendations for dinner, drinks and other activities for the remainder of our trip. I highly recommend this tour; you won't be disappointed!!

Go find your own cheese and chocolate

Way overpriced for what we received. Chocolate was delicious and cheese but standing in a store eating chocolate is not my idea of chocolate tasting . 450.00 Swiss francs was outrageous . Our guide was lovely and we enjoyed her very much . But we went on this to taste Switzerland. Disappointed.

I've been to Luzern twice before,but this time we booked this tour and what a difference it made! Isabel was very knowledgeable and sweet,and in just over 2hrs she told us so many things which we never knew.She took us to spots we had missed before, especially Château Gütch.Also,we would have missed the boat ride on the lake had she not told us,which was in our ticket.The boat ride with it's audio guide complemented the land tour,and by the end we knew a lot more about this lovely place than ever before.The icing on the cake was the chocolate tasting at Läderach and cheese tasting at a streetside restaurant. Definitely recommending it my friends.

Lucerne Tour

We had a wonderful tour with our guide - Isabella. She was very informative. She had an in-depth knowledge of the history of Lucerne.

Yum!

Me and my partner went on this and it ended up just being the 2 of us! We really enjoyed learning about the history of Lucerne from Louis, and we ended up following his suggestions for food later. The cheese and chocolate part was a little funny because we went down to the train station to do it, but everything ended up tasting amazing and we got to try different cheese and chocolate I normally wouldn’t try. It was a little expensive, but we did enjoy our time and it was a lovely few hours!

Wonderful experience to travel from Lucerne to Interlaken OST. If you have the swiss travel pass, get down at every train stops, enjoy the beaty of God's creation.

Fun afternoon in Lucerne

Luis was a fantastic tour guide. He has a radiant personality that creates an exciting and welcoming atmosphere. The tour was great. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lucerne who has not done much research/planning beforehand- as was our case. This would be a great tour to do on your first day in the city and Luis would be able to give you tailored recommendations to plan the rest of your trip. That being said, if you are already familiar with Laderach chocolates, have visited key sites in the city previous to this tour, this might not be the tour for you. This tour was as described and we received everything listed. I would happily attend another tour with Luis as he is an experienced and exceptional tour guide! Thank you Luis for a fun afternoon!

Fond Memories of Lucerne

All aspects of the Lucerne “CH” Experience were fun and memorable thanks to our knowledgeable and welcoming tour guide Martina. As avoiders of long, drawn out tours, we found the length of each experience just right. We especially enjoyed the concluding experience of wine, cheese and bread inside the wine cellar at Opus. The one hour cruise on Lake Lucerne was also lovely.

Great short tour with tastings

Nice short tour of Zurich with chocolate, cheese, and wine tasting. Luis was knowledgeable and friendly, with good command of English. We enjoyed the tour very much although we didn't see a lot of Zurich.

Great Tour with Luis!

We spent 9 days in Switzerland, Austria and Germany and this was one of our favorite tours. Luis was a fantastic tour guide, kept the tour interesting both for our children and the adults, knew the city very well and showed us some great spots along the way. The chocolate and cheese tastings were great and finishing the tour with a glass of wine and some cheese along the river was a great way to wrap our first day in Lucerne. Highly recommend this tour and Luis!

Delicious chocolate, wine and cheese!

Luis was a very interesting and personal guide and we really liked this tour. It’s a great half day tour to see the town. The chocolate and cheese were delicious and unique. We enjoyed hearing the history of Lucerne and seeing the beautiful sights. The wine bar at the end was a refreshing treat. We ended up buying a few bottles of a delicious Swiss wine to bring home. Luis, if you read this my husband and I have been looking for that Mustard Toccinesse with horseradish all over Zermatt and we haven’t been able to locate it in the gourmet markets or wine shops. Let us know if you have any tips or links to the product. Thank you!

Guide was pleasant and attentive, but not especially knowledgeable. Tour contained nothing we could not do by ourselves.

Save Your Money and Run

The guide was very nice, but the experience was underwhelming and quite odd and the description is very misrepresented. Not what I expected and for the price, it was flat out robbery. I recommend seeing Lucerne yourself and not wasting your money. You start with tasting chocolate and cheese inside of the Lucerne train station. I was shocked! I didn't travel thousands of miles to see the Lucerne train station. And the cheese tasting was at a grocery store market at their cheese counter. It was unbelievable. Then you start the walk to the Chateau where you awkwardly walk around inside while guests stare at you. The views were nice, but you can do this yourself and enjoy an actual lunch on their terrace. Then we ended at a restaurant. It was one type of cheese with a small pour of wine. It was not in a wine cellar as described. Also the group size was 10 people, not 6. The boat was fine and probably the best part, but you can buy a $29 CHF ticket on your own and go. Very disappointed and makes me not want to trust Trip Advisor or Viator again.

You will not regret this experience!!!

Our guide Irina was very knowledgeable, friendly, and respectful. My fiancé and I enjoyed the tour very much. The Läderach Chocolatier store knew the history about the company and how chocolates are made. The cheese we tried were to die for. The château and Chapel bridge were just magnificent and beautiful. 10/10 experience! We aré definitely doing it again in the future

Fantastic experience

Lots of different things to experience, plenty of cheese to taste! Our tour guide Luis was fun and informative, giving us tips on other places to go that weren’t included in the tour. Very enjoyable experience and plenty of opportunities to get photos of the beautiful city!

Lighthearted, easy, fun, and informative.

Chocolate tasting was fun and delicious. Same with the cheese tasting. Going up to the castle was great and have a great view of the city.

Jose was an incredible tour guide through Lucerne. He was enthusiastic about the history of the city and loved pointing out all the spots we could go to after the tour. Being a father himself, he was also terrific with our 12 year old son.

It was very misrepresented and not at all what we expected. We literally had our cheese and chocolate tasting as samples in the train station. The tour was not very informative and the castle was a quick peak at the lobby and terrace. Thankfully the end was better but absolutely not worth the over 200.00 per person. In fact I want a partial refund please.

Great way to get to know Lucerne!

We had an amazing time. Great activity to do early on in your stay in Lucerne because we got to see a bit of the city center and got some tips from our guide, Irina. She was awesome and very knowledgeable!! And the cheese and chocolates were delicious! Would highly recommend this tour!

Great fun and terrific way to start Lucerne

The chocolate and cheese were fabulous. This was the first day in Lucerne and so walking the river and visiting the chapel and chateau were great places to start. Louis, our guide, was outstanding. He made a great difference…knowledgeable with a great sense of humor and sensitive to the needs of those he was touring.

Great Lucerne experience

Tanja was our guide and she was great. Very personable and knowledgeable. Slowed the walking pace and gave the choice of taking the bus to accommodate my bad knees. Enjoyed the tastings very much. Small group of 6 made it really nice. Unfortunately the weather was very uncooperative and we opted out of the boat cruise on the lake since it was so rainy and foggy.

This is not a good tour for Viking travelers. 70 percent of your was included by Viking. Description of tour was deceiving. I thought a chateau tour would be included not just use a public lift to the chateau. Also last minute boat ride details.
