Nice tour close to Budapest to small village and castle with beautiful view of the Danube river bend and island. Guide very knowledgeable of the area, and flexible with time to shop local stores. Top tour for us!

Enjoyable trip to Szentendre and Visegrád castle

Richie was an excellent guide, he got to our hotel a few mins early. We were a group of 8 and Richie made our 1/2 day tour a wonderful experience. We truly enjoyed Szentendre, and Visegrád castle. Overall a great experience!

Memorable Trip to the Country

Driving out of the city and into the country was a really lovely way to spend 1/2 day. Our guide, Richard, was absolutely fantastic!! He is friendly, knowledgeable and made our trip truly memorable. Visiting both Castles and walking around the quaint little town was just terrific!! I highly recommend this tour, especially if you ask for Richard!

Peter was an excellent driver and so helpful. It was wonderful to ask him questions about Hungary. The little town of Szentendre is lovely but the castle is Visegrad is not worth visiting, in my opinion.

Great Private Tour

We enjoyed our countryside tour of Danube Bend area with Richard - he is a great tour guide and driver and was very accommodating. If you have time to see the outskirts of the Budapest, this is definitely a nice excursion!

Wonderful day … superb guide

Our guide, Richard, was amazing, and a wealth of knowledge on the history of the country and its people. He was really value added. Szentendre was a magical little village with wonderful little shops. Snow and an icy road kept us from the Castle. We appreciated the safety …. Great, private/small group tour. Richard was our guide and driver. He was very informative and knowledgable. Szentendre is a beautiful little town. Definitely worth the visit, and I am glad that I opted for this tour , as the smaller group/ private tour made it a lot more enjoyable.

Magical day outside Budapeste

We had the best day - our guide helped us explore the language, history, flavors and nuances of the area with humor and kindness. We learned so much in a magically picturesque setting. Visegrád brought you immediately to the Renaissance area and provided stunning views of the Danube. Szentendre was charming and so full of history and beauty. Thank you so much for a perfect visit!

Great day, great guide, great destinations.

Richard was an outstanding guide and driver! We learned a lot of interesting histor, saw a beautiful view of the Danube from Visegard Castle, and enjoyed listening to the stories about Szentendre, and he even located an optical shop when my glasses broke. The day after our tour we discovered that we needed to talk to one of the vendors so we called Richard and he agreed to convey our message to her.

Perfect out of town trip!

Gary arrived punctually and right in front of our hotel. He provided excellent information and friendly conversation throughout our trip. The first town was charming. The second stop is a fascinating historic citadel with commanding views and interesting displays. We enjoyed the trip very much, and felt we made a good friend in Gary.

The highlight of our trip!

This half-day trip was one of the best highlights of our 14-day vacation to Austria-Hungary! Richard was a friendly and sweet guide who patiently showed us around the gorgeous little town of Szentendre and also gave us some free time there to enjoy on our own. My toddler also had a great time walking around and exploring the cobbled streets. The views from both Szentendre and the top of Visegrad were fabulous and we couldn't get enough. Four hours passed in no time! It's a perfect half-day trip for anyone who'd like to explore the Danube beyond Budapest. Highly reccommend!

Richard was a great...

Richard was a great guide! He showed us all of the sights and explained the history of each place. We had wonderful conversations on the drive there and back. All around a great trip!

Great tour out in the countryside

Gary was right on time for our tour. Spoke and understood English. He pointed out sights along our travel. We needed some water and he stopped along the way for us to buy some. Plenty of time to visit the sites and shops. Highly recommend this service, your and Gary!

Excellent Experience

My guide, Richard, was excellent...learned much about the history...being Hungarian, he knew so much...had plenty of time to go all around the castle and town...I would highly recommend asking for him!!!

A very worthwhile tour experience

Our tour guide was Gary and he was excellent. he is a good driver, very knwoledgeable and very accomodating. We enjoyed his explanations of the areas we visited, espexially the Danube Bend and Visegrad Castle. it was an excellent tour and very worthwhile.

An EXcellent tour with an Experienced Guide

Our guide was Gary. He was an excellent friver. The car was very comfortable and clean. His English was good. His knowledge of the area was excellent and we enjoyed his explanations and comments. Szentencdre was a shopper's paradies. My sister would have liked more time there, but for me it was sufficient. The Visegrad Castle was fascinating. the scenery and views from there were superb. It was an excellent tour and well worth the money. I highly recomment this privated guided tour with Gary!!!!

Highly recommended! 💯 No regrets in taking the tour. Very attentive and considerate to our needs. If you need a short 4 hours tour that’s not in the city center, this tour is for you. Expect walking around the Szentendre and Visegrad.

Enjoyable way to spend half a day

Gary was excellent, prompt, courteous & friendly. We always enjoy talking to local guides. The Renault car he picked us up in was a bit cramped for 4 adults. Gary did a great job answering all of our questions and telling us about where we were going. Description of the tour probably should’ve said more about the need to climb quite a lot of stairs both in Szentendre and at the castle. Two of us were not able to climb all the stairs needed to get to the viewpoint in Szentendre to see the full view, but that’s not really Gary’s fault, I should’ve asked ahead of time. Still enjoyed the little town very much. At the castle we were still able to see the view of the Danube Bend from the first level (one set of stairs) without climbing all the way to the very top of the castle. Beautiful views. For clarification, once you arrive at Szentendre and the castle, you explore on your own.

This is really just a private van with two stops. You get about 30 minutes on your own at the stop on the half day trip.

Luxurious and friendly private tour with Richard

Richard, our guide was absolutely perfect. He messaged us in advance and turned up exactly as he said he would - in his beautiful Mercedes SUV. He was very friendly and showed us around, whilst adjusting for our interests and how much time we wanted to spend at each site. It was New Year’s Day, so we were a little tired and the town was a little quiet, but I would definitely recommend this tour and any other with Richard.

Great Private tour with Richard

We loved Richard, our tour guide who took us outside of Budapest. The weather was rainy and dreary but Richard was so knowledgeable pointing out places along the way. We really enjoyed our time with him.

Szentendre village tour

Loved the village of szentendre and the stop at the Citadel. Gary did a great job and we would definitely use his outfit again!

Beautiful Szentendre & Visegrad!

In early October (2022), my husband and I took the short, private Szentendre & Visegrad tour (without lunch) from Budapest because he needed to get back to the city for an afternoon business meeting and we couldn’t linger. The length was perfect. Gary picked us up on time at our apartment, and we were in Szentendre in less than a half hour. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and speaks fluent English. He let us wander freely for a while, but also remained accessible for picture taking and Q&A. Gary was as interested in us as we were in him, and he enjoyed watching us discover even the smallest details about this amazing little village. We then drove on to the fortifications at Visegrad, about 30 minutes away. The views from the hilltop were stunning and the permanent displays (though text was mostly in Hungarian) were visually informative and thorough. Gary is a small tour operator, so he is directly responsible for the quality of his part of the trip. We definitely feel we got our money’s worth and highly recommend him to other travelers.

An amazing half day tour!

What a great tour! It was like stepping back in time to visit the town of Szentendre. Of course, the castle Visegrád was amazing. Richard, our guide, did a great job driving and educating us about each destination.

Visit to Szentenre & Visegrad Castle

Richard was our tour guide and he was wonderful. Very informative and allowed us to wander as he talked about this quaint town. The view from Visegrand Castle of the Danube bend was beautiful. A walk around the partially renovated castle was OK. If you have seen one before it was not that interesting. The view was what you go for.

Small treasures right outside of Budapest.

Richard was a great tour guide. Szentendre is such a charming little town and it was fun exploring the castle at Visegrád. Would definitely recommend to anybody visiting Budapest.

Great tour...highly recommended. Richard was amazing. He even suggested driving a bit earlier to avoid traffic and heat...great idea. Good conversation...very knowledgeable.

Fun short excursion from Budapest

Geri was very accommodating and an excellent driver. He gave us interesting background information about the towns we visited but he is not a professional guide. Szentendre is a very quaint old town populated by artists. We had about 30 minutes to walk around on our own after Geri walked around with us telling us about the town’s history and highlights. Vysegrad Castle (citadel) was interesting in that it was built in the 13th century, but otherwise was unremarkable. Geri bought our entrance tickets but we went up on our own. The views of the Danube from the top of the citadel were spectacular. This is a fun excursion if you are spending several days in Budapest and want to see the countryside.

disappointed with tour guide

There were only 2 of us for this tour and despite the fact that it was described as a "private guided tour" it was more like an Uber ride. Richard, our guide, was late in picking us up at the hotel and was distracted and spent more time on his phone than talking with us and providing us with information. At Visegrad castle, he handed us tickets, told us where to go and said he would meet us in the parking lot later. Very disappointing tour. The town of Szentendre was charming. Just wish we would have had a different guide.

Great experience

Great experience. We had a wonderful time with great guide who was also very flexible. He arrived a bit early which allowed us to beat the crowds and get a better start. He pointed out great little things which added flavor.

Knowledgeable and Friendly

Knowledgeable and friendly. My college aged daughter and I took this tour to learn more about the history of the Budapest area. Richard, our guide, had impeccable English, a comfortable M class Mercedes, and educated us and also answered lots of questions. The scenery was nice and being here at this time in history with a thorough understanding of Hungary's past was special.

A welcome change to Budapest

Richard is a great guide. He reached out the night before the tour to confirm the pickup information and arrived the next morning promptly. The first stop of the tour was a beautiful little city that seems to have escaped time. My only criticism of this tour is that I would've preferred to spend more time here during the tour. We had about 20 minutes of free time to explore while I think 45 minutes would have been much better. The second stop offers breathtaking views. Throughout the tour, Richard shared many historical and cultural Hungarian facts. He is easy to talk with and obviously very knowledged about current events and history. This made the tour even better. Overall an incredible experience that I highly recommend.

Great view in Szentendre and Visgerad even though there is a bit rainy. Richard is kind and show us all the way by introducing the history and backgrounds of this sights of interest.

A delightful trip outside Budapest

Our day started with Richard picking us up in our hotel. 30 minutes later we reached Szentendre, which is an absolutely beautiful little town outside Budapest. People were kind, the sights were nice. There was ample time to roam around. It’s always a good idea to explore outside the city and this is a perfect place for that. After that we went to Visegrad where there is a beautiful view of the Danube bend. It’s still winter so the crowd was thin, which made our visit even nicer. Richard was the perfect driver/guide. He was on time, very kind, and gave us information about Hungary, Budapest, the towns we visited, as well as some tips for the rest of our trip. I highly recommend taking this tour. Very worth the price.
